Dental Treatments
Helping our patients have healthy teeth and gums is at the heart of everything we do. We believe in a preventive approach to keep you healthy instead of providing treatments once the damage has already occurred.
At the routine dental health examination, we assess the health of your mouth in 12 different areas, including checking your risks of future gum inflammation and tooth decay, carrying out a mouth cancer screening and making recommendations for your homecare routine.
Visits to the dentist should start as soon as a baby’s first teeth appear. Our preventative approach to dentistry begins early, and visits with your little one early on can help them feel more comfortable at the practice and teach parents how to best care for their child’s teeth.
Our hygienists are essential in patient care at The Bay Dental Practice. They will design a specific hygiene programme to match your needs and give you advice – whether to help improve your diet or demonstrate up-to-date cleaning techniques with brushes that help reach those awkward spaces!
Crowns, bridges, and veneers all play an important part in restoring teeth and smiles.
- Crowns are tooth-shaped ‘caps’ that fit over your tooth, restoring its appearance, function, and strength.
- A bridge is a restoration that we use to fill the gap from a missing tooth, and it’s usually held in place by two dental crowns.
- Veneers are thin facings we permanently apply to the front of teeth to improve their appearance or help protect them.
We have them made to our prescription by a local dental laboratory. At The Bay Dental, you can count on our dentists and technicians to work together for the best result.
A dental implant replaces the roots of a missing tooth. It consists of a titanium post which is placed in the jaw and integrates with the bone, a process which anchors the implant firmly in place. Afterwards, we place a crown or other restoration on the implant to look and function like a real tooth. Dentist Michael Adams carries out our dental implant placement.
Our patients’ dentures are made by clinical dental technician Tony Bonner. He pays great attention to appearance and fit, so patients are happy with the look of their new teeth and their freedom to eat and smile. At The Bay Dental, we make complete sets of dentures and partial dentures to replace missing teeth.
Root canal treatment can save diseased or infected teeth. When infection occurs within the soft tissues inside the tooth, it must be carefully removed and sealed off. Unless we remove inflammation or infection, you may experience discomfort, which could lead to an abscess and further pain. Our dentist uses a special operating microscope to carry out our root canal treatments.
Most teeth will benefit from whitening, an effective way to brighten stained or discoloured teeth. The procedure is safe, simple, and more affordable than ever. For these reasons and more, whitening is a popular cosmetic dental treatment. We recommend custom-made trays supplied by us with whitening gel which you use progressively over a few weeks until you reach a desirable shade of brightness.
Cosmetic dentistry primarily addresses the aesthetics of teeth, though several of these treatments also have oral health benefits. Patients request cosmetic dental treatments, which include teeth whitening, teeth straightening, crowns or veneers to mask unsightly teeth, or a little cosmetic bonding – a reshaping of the teeth with natural tooth colour filling material. Some of these methods of improving smiles are very ‘minimal’ but highly effective. Dentures and implants can also be provided for cosmetic reasons, and we provide both here.
Anti-wrinkle injections, also known as botox injections, are a popular cosmetic procedure used to reduce the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines on the face.
