A Month dedicated to improving the UKs Dental health.
National Smile Month has been operating since 1977. It was the year that Fleetwood Mac released “Rumours”, the Ford Fiesta went on sale and the Queen celebrated her silver jubilee. Unfortunately only 1 in 3 people had their own natural teeth, with which to chomp through the cucumber sandwiches and cupcakes which covered the tabletops at every street party.
The British Dental Health Foundation issued three key messages in 1977 that have been replicated in every campaign since:-
- Brush your teeth last thing at night and on at least one other occasion with a fluoride toothpaste
- Visit the dentist regularly, as often as they recommend
- Cut down on the frequency of sugary foods and drinks
….And what was true in 1977 still stands today. Thirty eight years later, dedicated dental professionals at The Bay Dental Practice and thousands of similar dental practices throughout the land are constantly trying to prevent dental disease with these three simple messages.
Just to give you a hand with a filling-free future, we are celebrating this year’s National Smile Month by offering one of our favourite electric toothbrushes as a prize in our Facebook competition. Simply like our Facebook page & share the competition post and you could be the proud owner of an Oral B 6000 (rrp £99.99). Good Luck!
The winner will be notified on Friday 19th June 2015
